(Miniature by Games Workshop)
This is NOT a finished mini. It is a Work In Progress. In case you are wondering, this is Genestealer "A" because I'm going to be lettering the bottom of the bases of all my Genestealers to keep track of them in game. This is the first Genestealer I have attempted to paint from the new Space Hulk box. As you see it here, the Genestealer itself is not painted, only base coated. The metallic structure and base are the only thing that is worked on so far. I'm not sure yet if I'm happy with it so far. I think this is going to be a fine gaming piece, but I'm not sure if I'll go into too much work to make it a display piece. As you see it, the colors used were- From Citadel: Boltgun Metal Vermin Fur Chaos Black Dwarf Flesh Bleached Bone Badab Black Wash Devlan Mud Wash From Vallejo: White The mini was primed with black For all the metal structure, I base coated the whole thing with a thinned mix of Boltgun Metal with a couple drops of white. Then I washed it with Badab Black. Next I base coated the skulls with thinned Vermin Fur Next I washed the skulls AND the metal with Devlan Mud. Next I added one more drop of white to the thinned metal mixture and use this to very lightly dry brush the metal areas. Next I dry brushed the skulls with Dwarf Flesh, then again with Bleached Bone. Then made one more Devlan Mud wash over just the skulls. And finally I used some Chaos Black to touch up the areas of the base and the Genestealer that I got with the dry brush steps so I have a clean canvass to start with when I start painting the Genestealer. |

That's one of the things I love about having a fairly good macro mode on my digital camera. I see so much more on the digital photos than I can see with my terribly bad eyes otherwise. I use the photos to see the mistakes I wouldn't otherwise see, this is one good reason to take photos along the process, rather than waiting till it's "done".
